The 2024 gathering will be held during the weekend of 18th May 2024, in Gatineau. Registration is now opened.
2023 Gathering
The 2023 gathering, the 25th of the association, was held on May 20th 2023 at Domaine Château Bromont, under the presidency of Jacques Morrissette. The general assembly took place Saturday morning and was followed by a game of “War of clans” which brought much hilarity. The evening ended with the talented musicians of the association.
2022 Gathering
After two years of absence, the annual gathering of the Association is back. This year it will be held in Wendake, near Quebec City. It is a great place to meet again and learn a little bit more about First Nations.

2019 Gathering (twenty third)
The 2019 Gathering was held on May 18th and 19th 2019, under the presidency of Normand and Hélène Morissette. The general assembly took place on Saturday morning and was followed by visits to the Moulin La Lorraine and the church and museum of St-Léon-de-Standon. Guy Morissette (member 583) presented his family history.
A religious mass was held on Sunday morning at the Notre-Dame du Lac chapel which is located directly on the shore of Lac Etchemin. The gathering ended with a brunch at the Manoir Lac Etchemin.

2018 Gathering (twenty second)
The 2018 gathering was held in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield on May 19th and 20th 2018, under the presidency of Yvan Morissette. Following our Annual General Meeting on Saturday morning, the afternoon was reserved for a city tour during which the importance of the Montreal Cotton company in the establishment of the city was clearly demonstrated. In the evening, a banquet followed by a dancing evening was held.
Mass was celebrated on Sunday morning in the Sainte-Cécile cathedral which was partly reconstructed following a fire. After the mass, a visit in the crypt was organised.
Guy Morissette, one of the founding member of the association was nominated as an emeritus member of the Association.
2017 Gathering (twenty first)
The 2017 gathering was held in Trois-Rivières on May 19th to 21rst at the Hotel des Gouverneurs, under the presidency of Roger Morissette. On saturday afternoon, a guided tour of Trois-Rivières using “historical” guides gave a very interesting summary of the history of the town. In the evening, dancing under the animation of the fantastic orchestra “Légende” was very appreciated.
Mgr Morissette concelebrated the mass at the Ursuline Chapel. This was followed by a visit of the museum and Ursuline school.
The weekend was also marked by the nomination of Thérèse Morissette as an emeritus member of the Association. A souvenir pad was given to every member of the Assoication to mark the twentieth aniversary of the Association foundation.
2016 Gathering (twentieth)
The twentieth gathering was held in Saguenay (Chicoutimi) under the presidency of Véronique Morissette, on May 21 and 22 2016. In addition to exceptionnal quality meals, the organisers prepared for us district tours of Jonquière, Chicoutimi and La Baie. The Saturday night banquet was followed by a dancing evening animated by a band. The Sageneens know how to make us feel welcomed!
During the weekend, the second edition (in French only) of Nos Ancêtres Morissette was unveiled.
The Sunday mass was held in the Chicoutimi cathedral.
2015 Gathering (nineteenth)
The 2015 gathering took place in Isle-aux-Coudres from May 29th to 31rst under the presidency of Lise Patenaude.
This year a new formula was attempted. The packages included all weekend activities as well as all meals and lodging. The general assembly took place Saturday morning and was followed by a visit of Isle-aux-Coudres. The main feature of this gathering was the naming of Raymond Morissette as an emeritus member.
The Sunday mass was held in St-Louis church which has a long history.
2014 Gathering (eighteenth)
The 2014 Gathering was held on May 24th and 25th 2014 in Victoriaville with André Morissette, director of the Association, presiding with the assistance of Fernande Bergeron.
After the annual meeting in the Saturday morning, we had a visit of the Victoriaville area. During the Saturday night banquet, our first emeritus member was named, a well-deserved honour for RogerMorissette who was a pioneer of the association and a tireless worker.
The Sunday mass was held in the church of Ste-Victoire.
While one group visited the parliament, another group undertook a city tour. We also had a conference by Michel Prévost, Chief Archivist at the University of Ottawa, on the “Contribution of francophones in the development of the City of Ottawa”.
We were honoured to attend the mass presided by Mgr Pierre Morissette, proud member of our Association.
2013 Gathering (seventeenth)
The 2013 Gathering was held on May 25th and 26th 2013 in Ottawa(Ontario) with Guy Morrissette, director of the Association, presiding with the assistance of Marie-Thérèse Cayen-Morrissette.
While one group visited the parliament, another group undertook a city tour. We also had a conference by Michel Prévost, Chief Archivist at the University of Ottawa, on the “Contribution of francophones in the development of the City of Ottawa”.

2012 Gathering (sixteenth)
The 2012 gathering was held from May 25th to 27th 2012 in Sherbrroke (Quebec) at l’Hôtellerie Jardins de Ville under the presidency of Michèle Morissette-Bourque, director of the Association.
We had a city tour and admired beautiful murals. We also had the privilege to participate in a mass at the St-Michel cathedral of Sherbrroke. It was a special mass where children and adults received the sacrament of confirmation by the diocese Archbishop Mgr Luc Cyr.
2011 Gathering (fifteenth)
The Year 2011 Gathering was held May 21 and 22/2011 in Joliette(Quebec) with Jacques Morrissette, director of the Association, presiding with the assistance of his wife, Murielle Bissonnette.
During the general assembly, the vice president also launched a new book titled “Nos ancêtres Morissette” which is available in paper and digital formats.
We got small sketches played by professional actors.
We were honoured to assist the mass presided by Mgr Pierre Morissette, proud member of our Association.
2010 Gathering (fourteenth)
The Year 2010 Gathering was held May 22 and 23/2010 in Montreal, Qc, with Jacques Morrissette, director of the Association, presiding.
We got a 3-hour tour bus of Montreal.
We were honoured to assist the mass and visit the historical chapel of the Montreal Grey Nuns.
2009 Gathering (thirteenth)
The Year 2009 Gathering was held from May 8 to May 10/2009 in La Malbaie, Qc, with Ann Warren, director of the Association, presiding.
After a well done presentation by Serge Gauthier on “La Petite Histoire de Charlevoix”, a guided bus tour of Murray Bay was available to the visitors.
During the general assembly, the president also launched the third edition of “Répertoire des mariages Morissette-Morrissette-Morisset”.
2008 Gathering (twelfth)
The Year 2008 Gathering was held May 16/17/18/2008 at the Motel Deville of Rouyn-Noranda, Qc, with Gilles Morisset, presiding and director of the Association.
Visits to the Noranda smelter and to Hydro-Quebec installations were available to the visitors as well as a guided city tour.
During the general assembly, the president also launched a monograph of the Morisset House written in French by the owner of the house, Denis Lavallee and Rene Pronovost.
2007 Gathering (eleventh)
The Year 2007 Gathering was held on May 19 and 20/2007 in St-Michel-de-Bellechasse, Qc, with Jérôme-René Morissette, president of the Association, presiding. During the proceedings, we have unveiled that the pop-rock international signer Alanis Morissette was a direct descendant of Nicolas Morisset and Anne Cloutier who settled in St-Michel, Qc.
We have also visited the church of St-Michel and the chapel of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, a very nice pilgrim site.
2006 Gathering (tenth)
The Year 2006 Gathering was held on May 20 and 21/2006 in Ste-Croix-de-Lotbinière, Qc, with Claudette Morisset-Lemay, director of the Association, presiding. During the proceedings, we have unveiled a commemorative plate to honour Pierre Morisset and Catherine Letourneau, the first Morisset to establish in Ste-Croix-de-Lotbinière, Qc,
We have also visited the churches of Ste-Croix and St-Louis of Lotbinière, Qc, as well as the Domaine Joly-de-Lotbiniere.
2005 Gathering (ninth)
The Year 2005 Gathering was held on May 21 and 22/2005 in St-Marc-des-Carrières, Qc, with Pierre Morissette, director of the Association, presiding.
2004 Gathering (eight)
The Year 2004 Gathering was held on May 21, 22 and 23/2004 in Manoir Saint-Castin, Lac-Beauport, Qc, with Thérèse Morissette, director of the Association, presiding. During the proceedings, we have honoured Suzanne Howard for her involvement in the salvation and the restoration of the Maison Morisset of St-Famille, I.O. We have also honoured Raymond Morissette who left the Board after 8 years as vice-president.
2003 Gathering (seventh)
The Year 2003 Gathering was held on May 16, 17 and 18/2003 in Centre d’Arts Orford, Orford, Qc, with Michèle Morissette-Bourque, director of the Association, presiding. During the proceedings, we launched our fifth publication, the second edition of “Répertoire des mariages Morissette-Morrissette-Morisset”.
2002 Gathering (sixth)
The Year 2002 Gathering was held on May 18 and 19/2002 in Ste-Famille, Île d’Orléans, QC, with Henriette Morissette-Moisan, director of the Association, presiding. During the proceedings, we have unveiled two commemorative plates to honour the ancestors.
The commemorative plate of the ancestors Mathurin Morisset and Elisabeth Coquin was unveiled during the general assembly 2002 and is installed on the north wall inside the church of Neuville, Qc, the place where they got married on Jan. 9/1690.
The commemorative plate of the ancestors Jean Moricet and Jeanne Choret was unveiled by Roger Morissette et Roger Giguère and blessed by Bishop Pierre Morissette who was celebrating the Catholic mass in the church of his ancestors. The plate is installed in the Parc des Ancêtres which is adjacent to the old presbytery of Ste-Famille, the place where they raised all their family and died.
2001 Gathering (fifth)
The Year 2001 Gathering was held on May 18, 19 and 20/2001 in Ste-Marie-de-Beauce, QC, with Léo Morissette, director of the Association, presiding.
During the proceedings, we launched our fourth publication “Toponymes Morissette (toute épellation) dans le monde” explaining 163 toponyms in Canada, USA, France and Australia. We were also told by the Mayor of Ste-Marie-de-Beauce, QC, that the City is planning to name a site around a new bridge as PARC MORISSETTE to honour all the Morissettes who built the city throughout the centuries.
2000 Gathering (fourth)
The Year 2000 Gathering was held on May 19, 20 and 21 in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC, with André Morissette, director of the Association, presiding.
During the proceedings, we unveiled our flag and launched our third publication “Jean Morisset, patriote de 1838”.
1999 Gathering (third)
The 1999 Gathering was held May 21, 22 and 23 in Shawinigan, QC, with Annette Morissette-Bourassa, director of the Association, presiding.
During the proceedings, we launched our second publication “Morissette d’ici et d’ailleurs, d’hier et d’aujourd’hui”.
1998 Gathering (second)
The 1998 Gathering was held May 15, 16 and 17 in Neuville, QC, with Rémi Morissette, secretary of the Association, presiding.
We welcomed Morissets and Morissettes from France, from the western provinces, and from Ontario and Québec.
During the proceedings, we unveiled two commemorative monuments in honour of our ancestors Jean Moricet/Jeanne Choret and Mathurin Morisset/Élisabeth Coquin.
We also launced our first publication, the first edition of “Répertoire des mariages Morissette-Morrissette-Morisset.”
1997 Gathering (first))
The 1997 Gathering, the first gathering, was held on June 21 and 22, 1997 in Trois-Pistoles, QC, with Raymond Morissette, vice-president of the Association, presiding.
At this official founding of the Association, we approved the by-laws, unveiled the coat-of-arms and the motto and elected the first Board of Directors.
