The one on the left was installed in 2001 while the one on the right in 2010 to replace the original plate which was permanently damaged by time and vandalism.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The first commemorative plate (photo on the left) was unveiled during the trip to France of September 2001. It was unveiled on September 13, 2001 in the presence of municipal authorities of Surg\u00e8res, the mayor Guilloteau and deputy mayor Catherine Desprez. It is installed near the Renaissance door to the gardens surrounding the ch\u00e2teau of Surg\u00e8res, where Jean Moricet was born in 1641. The plate was fabricated in Qu\u00e9bec by Monuments B.M. Inc. of Rimouski as per the specifications received from the town of Surg\u00e8res. The plate was made of rose marble may also be of Alva rose granite, and meaudres 33 cm x 20 cm x 1,5 cm.<\/p>\n<p>We offer our thanks and salute the anonymous member of the Association who made a generous donation of $1000 CDN to pay for the first plate.<\/p>\n<p>The second commemorative plate (photo on the right) was installed on March 8, 2010. It was manufactured by Atelier Moryce Cr\u00e9ation of Surg\u00e8res. It is in black Impala granite and measures 33 cm x 20 cm x 3 cm.<\/p>\n<p>We offer our thanks to Denis Gu\u00e9rin, the son of a French member of our Association, that was deeply involved in the replacement of the first plate.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00cele d&#8217;Orl\u00e9ans, Qu\u00e9bec<\/h3>\n<p>The commemorative plate to the ancestors Jean Moricet\/Morisset and Jeanne Choret is made of stainless steel and was unveiled in the presence of Bishop Pierre Morissette during the 2002 gathering held in Ste-Famille, \u00cele d&#8217;Orl\u00e9ans, QC on May 18th and 19th 2002. The plate is now installed in the Parc des anc\u00eatres which is adjacent to the presbytery and the church of Ste-Famille, the parish where they raised all their family up to their death.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/morissette.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/09\/Plaque_Jean_2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-58\" src=\"https:\/\/morissette.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/09\/Plaque_Jean_2.jpg\" alt=\"Plaque_Jean_2\" width=\"279\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The French text is : &#8220;Hommage \u00e0 Jean Morisset (1641-1699) et Jeanne Choret (1652-1718), anc\u00eatres des Morissette d&#8217;Am\u00e9rique, \u00e9tablis et d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9s \u00e0 Ste-Famille, \u00cele d&#8217;Orl\u00e9ans.&#8221; And is signed : &#8220;Association des familles Morissette inc, 19 mai 2002&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Surg\u00e8res, France Two commemorative plates to honour our ancestor Jean Moricet\/Morisset were installed in his home town of Surg\u00e8res in France.
